Knowing your WHY

If I could wave a magic wand and you could have 100% clarity on your WHY trust me, I would 🪄

The reality, however, is that it takes time to get at the core of your WHY.

Your WHY is the thing that motivates you, drives you, provides purpose and serves as the foundation of the work that you do.

Determining your WHY is a combination of looking at your values, the things that motivate you, your strengths, your passions, and the impact that you hope to have.

If you are still working out your WHY or if you’ve never thought about your WHY here are some starting points:

Ask yourself questions like:

🪄What motivates me

🪄What impact do I want to have

🪄What is important to me

🪄When do I feel / have I felt at my very best

🪄What do people come to me for / what value do I bring to others in work and life

🪄What are my most fulfilling accomplishments

With each of these questions, dig deeper, ask why.

If helping others motivates you and is an impact you’d like to have - ask why. What about it motivates you? Why do you want to have that impact vs. another? What do you value about helping others?

Getting clear about your WHY is a huge advantage with your career.

Knowing your WHY (and reminding yourself of that WHY) is a powerful way to:

🏆establish and work toward meaningful goals

🏆evaluate opportunities, take risks, and determine what to say “yes!” to and what to say “no thanks” to

🏆find value in the work that you’re doing (even on the tough days- because there’s always going to be tough days)

🏆articulate the value you bring to a position, company, or client.
