The Job Search Debate
I hear it all the time…
“I’m thinking about job searching”
It’s the classic job search debate.
Job searching is hard, takes a lot of time and let's be honest, it can be really draining. It’s not surprising that so many of us get into that job search debate, potentially even spending more time deciding whether to job search than actually searching.
If you’re having the job search debate, ask yourself:
Why am I thinking about job searching?
And to really really think about it - did you have a bad day? Are you not feeling fulfilled in your current role? Maybe it’s something else.
Knowing where your job search debate stems from will help you decide if you actually want or need to search AND will help you when making decisions about a future position.
Next, ask yourself:
What step can I take today or tomorrow that will be beneficial for a future job search?
Often, we sit in indecision because we just don’t know what to do.
Take one step. Do something that will be beneficial regardless of if you decide to job search or not.
Things like:
✔️Updating your resume
✔️Sending someone a message on LinkedIn
✔️Signing up for a training or learning a new skill
are all beneficial regardless of if you decide to job search or not!
Last, remember that just because you take steps to job search, apply to positions, interview for jobs, and receive offers doesn’t mean you have to take them.
